July 2008 NFCA is launching e-communities around the country to connect family caregivers to their peers in their own states or regions. Usually the most valuable and trusted resources and information for family caregivers needs to come from other caregivers within your community.
Currently NFCA family caregiving e-communities have been established in Michigan, New Jersey, Nebraska and Virginia. And more will be opening throughout the year.
An e-community is a place for family caregivers to post questions and to seek advice on anything from "where can I find a reliable caregiver to come in on a Sunday morning" to "are there any local resources to help my teenagers better cope with Grandma moving into the house?" The e-communities also include local service directory data bases with references, both positive and negative.
For more information on how e-communities work and most importantly how to join the e-community in your area please visit:HERE.
If you would like to help us launch an e-community in your state, please email the Program Coordinator at ecommunity@thefamilycaregiver.org.
